Seeing the fault before the customer: the IoT era in elevators
June 15, 2026 · The Aselmind Team
The classic scenario goes like this: the elevator breaks down at night, the building manager calls furious in the morning, and the crew scrambles out the door. In this scenario the company is always late — because it is the last party to hear about the fault.
IoT hardware flips that equation. Connected to the control panel, Aselfon reads the elevator’s status and error data over industrial protocols such as RS232, RS485 and CAN-BUS, and transmits it to the cloud via GSM, WiFi or LoRa. The moment a fault occurs, a record opens in the system and the nearest available technician is suggested along with their location.
The result: the crew is at the door before the customer calls. For a building management that has experienced this once, switching providers is no longer an easy decision — because most competitors are still waiting for the phone to ring.
